My book extract translations

I also love being asked to do sample translations for German language publishers. This kind of work is a delight in itself but can also help to get the book noticed by English language publishers.

Here are some of the authors I’ve worked on. They range from fiction prize-winners to writers of narrative non-fiction, thrillers and creators of Young Adult novels:

Natascha Wodin, Sabrina Janesch, Adriana Altaras, Judith W.Taschler, Isabel Bogdan, Verena Güntner, Romy Hausmann, Antonia Baum, Wiebke Lorenz, Alexandra Fröhlich, Sabine Schoder, Sylvia Bovenschen, Jan Kizilhan, Christian Huber

And here are some of the publishers who have commissioned my extract translations:

Kiepenheuer & Witsch, Cologne (Go to www.kiwi-verlag.de and find samples of my work in the Foreign Rights area)

Dtv, Munich

Fischer Verlag, Frankfurt am Main

Random House, Munich

Hoffmann und Campe, Hamburg

DuMont-Buchverlag, Cologne

Rowohlt Verlag

Paul Zsolnay Verlag

Reader reports

Last but by no means least, I would say that of the reader reports I have written for Granta Portobello, Pushkin Press and for ‘New Books in German’ magazine, the standout writers for me remain:

Nana Ekvtimishvili (original version in Georgian)

Walter Kempowski

Rasha Khayat

Natascha Wodin

I’ve also written reader reports for ‘New Books in German’, too many to list, and worked for Editor, Charlotte Ryland, as Editorial Assistant throughout 2017.
